District VIII Flower Show

To all members of District VIII, did you hear the news? District VIII is having a District Flower Show on October 26th and 27th of 2018.

The title "The Happiest Place on Earth" takes you to the wonderful world of Disney. This schedule was written by Jill Anderson and please note this is a working schedule. This means it still is not completely 100% done but she wanted everyone to get it ASAP so you can start signing up for design, horticulture, and Botanical Arts. There is so much to choose from that there is something for everyone. You may not enjoy designing but like crafts, there's a section for you. You may not be a horticulture person but love design, so there is a section for you, too. If you enjoy doing both there are sections for you. So download and enjoy reading the flower show schedule and sign up today.

So much fun awaits us all when this flower show comes to life in October. I hope all of you enjoy your day at Disney in October, free of charge when you come and  have a "Magical Day".

Here is the flyer with more details.

Florida Native Plant Society Meeting- Conservation Landscaping

Hillsborough County Extension Office 5339 County Road 579, Seffner, FL 33583

In many areas of our region there are little to no places left for native plants and wildlife except in our gardens, backyards and open spaces. Garden and backyard habitat restoration projects are now vital to the conservation of the diversity of the Tampa Bay region’s plants and animals. Robert Northrop will provide information and techniques for sustaining native plant and wildlife habitat in our backyards, gardens and open spaces. Specific examples will be used to illustrate how to organize and implement native habitat restoration and conservation within the region’s urban/suburban yards and open spaces.

Robert Northrop (BS-Forestry/Wildlife and MS-Wildlife Ecology) is the extension forester for the University of Florida IFAS Extension in Hillsborough County. Rob previously taught wildlife management at the University of Delaware for 14 years.

Meetings include light refreshments and a native plant auction after the speaker. The meetings are free and all guests are welcome.
